Straight-line distance, a 1.25x road heuristic for driving distance, 100 km/h motorway average for time, and 250 km between top-ups for the recommended stop count. The full planner runs OSRM, accepts your EV model + start battery + arrival target, and picks DC stops from the live availability data. Live-status pulls already feed the map.
